Tsar Simeon I the Great was a Bulgarian ruler who ruled from 893 to 927. He is a symbol of strength, power and cultural uplift. His skillful domestic and foreign policy, along with an impressive military strategy, not only expanded the territory of Bulgaria, but also turned it into the strongest country in Eastern Europe at the time. The exit to three seas and the flourishing of Bulgarian culture, called the Golden Age, make Simeon's rule worthy of example and awe.

The painting Tsar Simeon is the work of the artist Dimitar Gyuzhenov. Dimitar Gyuzhenov is a Bulgarian artist, born in 1891 in Stara Zagora. His paintings are mainly on military and historical themes, and are often used in encyclopedias and educational literature. The works praise the glorious Bulgarian history and receive national respect and recognition. Among the Bulgarian rulers and heroes painted by him are Khan Asparukh, Khan Krum, Khan Kubrat, Tsar Simeon, Tsar Boris and many others.
