Description

Vilac are very proud of their collaboration with the Natural History Museum in Paris. Georges-Louis Leclerc, comte de Buffon (1707-1788), directed the Royal Botanic Garden for nearly fifty years, from 1739 until his death: his Natural History, in 36 illustrated volumes, was a success from its publication. The animal images in the work serve as a source of inspiration for fine art, fashion, decoration, educational works and books for young people. An example of this is Buffon's game "Lotto": "Jeu de loto illustré, orné de toutes espèces", published in Paris by Appert fils and Vavasseur around 1840. The figures of the 96 animals on the 24 cards were created by Nicolas Fleury Yanin. The magnets are inspired by the illustrations in the game "Lotto", a copy of which is kept in the collections of the Department of Libraries and Documentation at the National Museum of Natural History. Contents: 20 magnets Advantages: Great game Original gift
