The original of this model was laid down around 1934 in a British shipyard and was one of the most modern trawlers in the world at the time. Trawlers of this type towed their trawls on the starboard side. The ships had a weight of 400-500 GRT / gross register ton. With a crew of 20, the trawlers were at sea for about 20 days. At that time, the perishable fish did not allow for a longer fishing period. Some of these ships also took part in the evacuation of British, Canadian and French troops after the German Wehrmacht captured Dunkirk in 1940. The prototype model was trawler MV "Ross Jackal" from 1961.
The model is of unusual scale. A reissue of the company from the 1960s, which directly transfers it to the "historical model" category. Of course, due to the age of this kit form, compromises have to be made in detail. There are no clear parts for the large windows in the forward part of the conning bridge, and the sub-beams on the inside of the sidewalls are not as pronounced as would really be necessary for this scale. Overall, the finished model should be very impressive. Especially with an intricate floral design. But both figures must be given a resting place in the sailor's home.
