Description

This food container is made of high-quality stainless steel and is microwave, dishwasher and oven safe (without lid) and is leak-proof. Lightweight, airtight and durable, it is ideal for preparing and storing food or simply carrying food on the go. Leak-proof + airtight vacuum seal and lid lock keeps food fresh for longer. The translucent lid helps you see your meals clearly. It is made of BPA-free polypropylene. Easy to clean thanks to the fully removable seals. High performance: the lid lock vent means the lid can remain on when cooking in the microwave, which reduces heating time (compared to other stainless steel containers) and prevents splashing (no need for disposable foil). FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How to use in the microwave? Yes, you read that right, these steel containers are microwave safe. We know we’ve all been taught that metal shouldn’t be microwaved, but that’s only partly true. There are definitely some metals that shouldn’t be microwaved, but that doesn’t include the high-quality stainless steel that Black+Blum use. This type of steel, combined with the smooth, rounded shape of the steel tins, means they won’t spark and are safe to use in the microwave. Is there anything I should know about using these tins in the microwave? Yes, any large dents (and we mean large) or deep scratches can make the tin unsuitable for the microwave, so be careful of those. Also, don’t put utensils or foil in the microwave with the tins, as they will spark. Please make sure you only put one tin in for a maximum of 2 minutes before stirring the food, then you can repeat. Don’t touch the edges of the microwave with the tin! These containers will take a little longer to heat up than regular plastic or glass containers, but because the lid can stay on (with the lid flap open), they heat up faster than other steel containers. Also, please note that the container will be hot when you remove it from the microwave, so you should use a potholder or towel. These containers have undergone very extensive testing to ensure the highest safety standards. Are there any foods I should avoid when using these containers in the microwave? You should avoid foods that are heated to extreme temperatures, such as popcorn or sugar, as they can cause burns. Also, please note that very oily/acidic foods may stain the lid (but will not affect the function). Can I use the lid in the microwave? Yes, we have specifically designed the lid to eliminate the need for disposable plastic wrap to prevent spatter when cooking in the microwave. Just make sure the lid flap is open (to prevent pressure build-up and release steam) and you’re good to go. Can I put it in the dishwasher, freezer and oven? Yes, yes and yes. The meal prep boxes are dishwasher safe (lid only on the top shelf), freezer safe and the steel box is oven safe (without the lid). When freezing food, be careful not to overfill the box, especially if it’s in a liquid state as it can expand when frozen. Are these boxes leak proof? Absolutely, this is an incredibly important feature for us. Leak proof means peace of mind and there’s no point in using a reusable lunch box if you have to wrap it in a plastic bag! Vacuum sealing and locking the lid ensures that this range of cans is 100% leak-proof and airtight, which also means that cooked food will stay fresher for longer, further reducing food waste. How do I remove the lid? These steel cans are leak-proof due to the vacuum seal in the lid, but this can mean they are difficult to open (in fact, almost impossible). To open the lid, simply press the button to release the lock. How do I care for the food preparation cans? Be careful not to use sharp objects such as knives directly on the steel as this can cause scratches. Do not use bleach, chlorine-based cleaners, abrasive cleaners or brushes on any part of the can as these can damage the finish and cause scratches. All gaskets and the lid locking flap (ONLY the grey silicone part, do not remove the actual lid button) are fully removable for deep cleaning. We advise washing all parts in warm soapy water before using for the first time. USE AND CARE •Wash all parts before first use. •All parts are dishwasher safe. Lid in the top rack only. Hand washing will extend the life of the product. •Do not use bleach, chlorine-based cleaners, abrasive cleaners or brushes on any part of the can as they may damage the finish. •To ensure the can is 100% leak-proof, check that the silicone gasket is evenly spaced around the edge of the lid and the edge of the steel can is clean and dry. With the flap open, press the lid down firmly on all sides. Then press the valve down to lock. •Excess steam can increase pressure on the lid and cause it to open when the food is warm. To prevent this when transporting very hot food, hold the container horizontally and open the valve button. This container is best used for transporting cold food. •To open: press the valve button to release the vacuum (Illustration A), then hold the side/corner of the base with one hand and carefully lift the lid with the other by pulling on the corner or short side. •Do not overfill with food. (Illustration B) •The base is oven safe; however, please note that exposing the container to high temperatures for a prolonged period of time (e.g. in the oven or on the grill) may cause the steel to darken. The lid is not oven safe. Please note that use in a microwave and oven may cause the metal to darken. •Please note that a slow but steady change in temperature may cause the box to open (e.g. if the box is left in the sun). When the air warms up, it will expand and put pressure on the lid. To prevent this, keep the box horizontal and open the flap button. •Keep the box horizontal whenever possible during transport. •The box is freezer safe and ideal for storage. Be careful when removing from the microwave, the steel box may be hot.
