The light Panzer II was developed by MAN in the mid-1930s. In fact, the tank serves only as a temporary solution and training vehicle. However, delays in the production of the Panzer III and IV meant that the Panzer II formed the backbone of the armored forces early in the war. When the Panzer III and IV were already in development and it was seen that this would be delayed, the Army Ordnance Directorate decided in July 1934 to put into service a 10-ton fighting machine that could be produced quickly. In addition to MAN, Krupp and Henschel are also involved. Due to the Treaty of Versailles, the vehicle was originally codenamed "Agricultural Tractor 100 (LaS 100)". After three years of development, series production began in 1937. This continued in various versions (from A to L) until 1942. From the beginning of 1941 The Panzer II is used as a reconnaissance tank.

When you open the box, you will find two beige sprues. In the set, Panzer II from Auf. F with two infantrymen of the German Afrika Korps in battle positions. The whole thing is rounded off by a small diorama showing the ruins of an African house.

The parts for the tank itself are on the first sprue. We have the parts for the hull, turret including armament and hatches. Smaller parts such as exhaust and headlights are also located here. The detail is really good and the fish skins are not visible at all. The parts for the ruined house can also be found here, which has very nice surface detail and a hole in the wall.
The second sprue mainly contains the sprockets and drive wheels of the chain drive, as well as some storage boxes and the 2 cm Kwk. The rest of the sprue is with the two soldiers. They look quite authentic, they can be used to depict a beautiful domestic war scene in a North African village. One soldier is armed with an MP40 and the other with a stick grenade. The actual diorama plate is included as the last and largest part of the set. In addition to the ruins of the building, the tracks left by the tank are also reproduced here. Rubber chains look good.
