Description:
It was the most mass-produced German submarine of World War II.
Armed with four forward and one aft torpedo tubes, she was the backbone of German operations in the Atlantic.
By mid-1943, the Wolfpack tactics used by the Germans were no longer producing the desired results
against increasingly well-protected military convoys and the regular presence of escort aircraft,
specialized for hunting submarines. Type VII C/41 models have a wider bridge,
and anti-aircraft defense of submarines was increased with the addition of automatic flak guns.
