Bismarck was the largest and most famous battleship of the German Kriegsmarine during World War II. With a displacement of over 50,000 tons, massive armament and technical superiority, she became a symbol of German naval power. Her first and only mission, Operation Rhine, ended dramatically with the sinking of the British battlecruiser Hood. Pursued by the Royal Navy, Bismarck was unable to maneuver after being hit by an aerial torpedo and was eventually sunk by her own crew. Her fate fascinates modelers and historians to this day, making her one of the most important ships in naval history.
