In 1972, the US Army put out a tender for a tropical, all-season heavy combat helicopter. The result was the Lockheed AH-56 "Cheyenne", which was then scrapped. In a second attempt, the Hughes AH-64 was developed and after the first flight on September 30, 1975 was thoroughly tested until 1982. Maneuverability, night operation capability and excellent low-flying capabilities were demonstrated for the helicopter to enter serial production. . The now so-called Apache is a two-seat helicopter (gunner/co-pilot in front, pilot slightly elevated in back). Two turbines, each with 1,238 kW (1,660 hp), take the helicopter to a maximum horizontal speed of 365 km/h. After several versions, the Apache-D version used a Westinghouse millimeter wave radar mounted on the rotor mast.

The model is finely machined and has fine, sunken engravings. The plastic is painted black, which should save you from staining. However, there is an extensive color guide.
For such a small model there is an incredible number of parts, all cast cleanly, which should make all possible armament states buildable. The well shaped cockpit glass is nice which with one side glass makes it possible to show it even when open.

A must for all 1/144 scale military model builders, also due to its very good diorama properties.
